Live Superworms
Superworms are big, active and full of wiggle, and that movement gets animals excited to eat. At around 1.5 to 2 inches, they're a great fit for adult bearded dragons, leopard geckos, blue-tongue skinks, monitors, tegus and larger frogs. They're also a little higher in fat than crickets or dubia, which makes them a good part of a varied diet.
Tips from our team:
- Don't refrigerate them. Unlike mealworms, superworms die in the cold. Keep them at room temperature.
- Store them in a ventilated container with oats or wheat bran. Add a slice of potato or carrot for moisture, and swap it out before it molds.
- Gut load them for 24 hours before feeding, and dust with calcium right before they go in.
- They have strong jaws, so feed them from a dish or with tongs. Only offer them to animals big enough to handle them.
