Live Mealworms
Mealworms are one of the easiest feeders to keep. They're tidy, they don't climb or chirp, and they stay put in a smooth dish. That makes them a great everyday option for leopard geckos, bearded dragons, skinks, frogs and other insect eaters. We carry two sizes:
- Standard (about 3/4–1"): the classic size for most geckos, young bearded dragons and smaller insect eaters
- Giant (about 1–1.5"): a bigger, meatier worm for adult bearded dragons, blue-tongue skinks, larger frogs and other bigger appetites
Tips from our team:
- Pick a worm no longer than the space between your animal's eyes.
- You can refrigerate them, around 45–50°F. Cold slows them down so they last for weeks. Every week or so, let them warm up for a day and give them a slice of potato or carrot so they can eat and drink.
- Keep them in a container with oats or wheat bran for bedding and food.
- Gut load them for 24 hours before feeding, and dust with calcium right before they go in.
- Serve them in a smooth-sided dish so they can't burrow and escape into the substrate.
