Isopods will eat on decomposing wood, leaves, and fruits and vegetables. Pieces of cuttlebone are also recommended to provide needed calcium.

Isopods are scavengers and prefer having food available at all times. Replace fruit and vegetables regularly to prevent fruit flies and mold growth.

Few species are found in dry woodland or savannah type habitats, but most are found in tropical areas and need a moist substrate.
